Just as Hannah was unboxing the last of her picture frames, a shrill ringtone hit the air. She looked around the office, and it took her a minute to remember that it was her phone. Considering that it had just been issued by her boss about an hour earlier, she forgave herself for not realizing it. She picked up the sleek, brand new device, and accepted the call, wondering who could be calling her.

“Hello?”

“Hi, is this Hannah Greer?” The voice on the other end of the line was deep and impossibly smooth.  Hannah almost fell off of her office chair; the effect on her was so strong. His voice was absolutely perfect. She had crossed her legs as he drew out her last name, enjoying the sensation that the increased pressure brought her. The black, silky panties that she had on underneath her slip were cool and soft as she had felt them press up against her, and she was improbably warm and wet after hearing just four words.

“This…this is she.” Hannah had managed to stutter when she realized that she was probably supposed to say something to this angel voiced stranger.

“Hi Hannah.” He had drawn out her first name that time too, and she imagined for a second that he knew the effect this was having on her, and that just made her more excited. “This is Andy Pierce. I’m the Head of Sales and Marketing over here in the New York office. How are you settling in?”

“It’s great…” the end of her sentence came up, like a question. How was she settling in? However he wanted her to, that was her answer.

“That’s just fantastic. I’m glad to hear it. Listen, I mainly just called to introduce myself. We do a lot of liaising, or at least I did with your predecessor, about the campaigns that we’re doing, I think even more so than you did in the Cincinnati office. I’ve seen a bit of your past work, and I’m really looking forward to setting some things up together.” God, his voice was perfect. She just listened to his tones rise and fall with each new word, catching nothing about their meanings, but enjoying hearing them all the same. There was another long, impossibly awkward pause.

“Yeah, thanks. That sounds great. Listen, I’ve got something I need to do right now, but it was great to talk to you.”

“It was, and I expect that we’ll be in touch soon.”

“Yeah, bye.”

“Goodbye.” Click, and he hung up the phone. Hannah banged her head against her phone, not actually believing that she was such an idiot. She was fairly certain that she had been more eloquent on the phone during middle school, and that was with boys that she said she would love forever. She probably sounded standoffish, and quite stupid to boot. God, she had though, he’s probably never going to call again.

Of course, she was wrong. He called the very next day, and they went over some sales figures that they had gotten in the previous week. That time, she managed to keep herself sounding at least mildly competent, and the call after that was even better. He, without meaning to at all, was affecting her work performance, and that was completely unacceptable. Hannah lived to work, and nothing could possibly mess with that, even impossibly hot sounding Andy.

His voice stayed with her, always in the back of her mind, so when she finally heard it in person for the first time; it was more than she could bear. “Hannah? Hi, I’m Andy from the New York office. I think I recognize your picture from LinkedIn.” Hannah turned around, and was stunned.

He was exactly how she had imaged him during their long conference calls over the past several months. Andy was tall and slightly muscular, with dark, curly hair sprouting out in all directions. Seeing him in person was overwhelming, considering that every time she heard his voice she broke out into a red blush as she thought about all the things she wanted him to do to her. Andy had perhaps the sexiest phone voice she had ever heard, and now she knew that his voice wasn’t a lie. She shifted from one high heeled foot to the other as he held his hand out to her, and felt a jolt like lightning run through her as they touched.

All of a sudden, she was flushed, and she felt uncomfortably hot in places other than her blushing cheeks. “It’s nice to finally put a face to the voice, Hannah.” Andy said with a perfect, white smile. “I’m so glad we could finally make it to the same conference.”

“Yeah, it feels like we’ve been just missing each other at events like this since I first started.” Since her promotion to Head of West Coast Sales and Marketing six months earlier, Hannah had worked closely with Andy on the phone and through email, but they had never managed to be in the same place at the same time. During the executive retreat in Aspen, she had been in Hong Kong on business, and at the New Faces in Marketing Awards, he had been on vacation when Hannah presented the award for best television campaign to one of her colleagues, an award she had won herself five years ago. It wasn’t as if she was avoiding him, but considering the chemistry they had over the phone, she had been a bit afraid to see what would happen if they ever met in person. She had been expecting fireworks, and that’s what she got.
